Q: Why are you doing this?
A: Our Amish neighbors make great things, but marketing is hard for them. Most rely on word of mouth or a sign at the end of the driveway.
Many get talked into ads that don't pay off β restaurant placemats, or a bench at a golf course 15 miles away β for hundreds of dollars.
We want our local Amish community to do more than survive. We want them to thrive.
Q: Who pays for this?
A: The businesses do, out of the marketing money they already spend. We just put it to better use and find them customers more efficiently.
Q: Why don't they have their own websites?
A: Many Amish communities have rules against websites, smartphones and the internet. Some businesses show up on Google Maps, but rarely by their own doing.
justAmishit is one shared website for many local businesses. They get the word out without owning a website or putting their name on one.
Q: Who are you, and what's your role?
A: I'm a local entrepreneur. I've started businesses, helped others grow theirs, and sold a few along the way.
For my Amish neighbors, I'm often the driver and the guy who orders things on Amazon. Now I'm their marketing liaison, too.
Q: Will I pay more if I inquire here instead of going straight to the business?
A: No. Our agreement with each business is that your price stays the same.
Like any good business, they set aside a few percent of revenue for marketing. When we do our job well, they spend less time chasing customers and more time building.
